Hot Topic: Gun Laws & Who's to Blame

How many people have to die this year before something is done about the weapon situation in this country? So many innocent people have lost there lives this year due to gun violence, and whats been done about it? Absolutely NOTHING! How many people have to be murdered by guns before it is too many? Does it have to be a public figure that dies before action is taken?! Is that what this country is waiting for? Were the lives of all those children not a good or big enough wake up call?

Who is really to blame?
-- Is it the people purchasing the guns?
-- The stores for making it so easy to buy?
-- The government for not having stricter gun laws and requirements?
-- The NRA?
-- Is it the creator of gun powder and weapons?
-- The availability?
-- The National Rifle Association (NRA) claims video game violence is to blame.

What can be done about it?
-- I personally don't think anything can be done. I think the situation has gotten so far out of hand, and has been going on for so long, that it doesn't matter how many laws you bring to pass, the guns are already out there. They are already in the hands of criminals and innocent people. People use them as a form of home protection... I have a baseball bat! But, thats just me.
-- People will argue "Its our constitutional right!" Which to be fair... it is. But when was the constitution written? Why was it put on there to begin with? Oh thats right, it was put on there because it was written in 1787! It was put on there when men thought they could own other men (which is disgusting in its own right, and so shameful), where if one of there "possessions" walked off they could/would shoot. Fear of the Native Americans. Fear of the "unknown", and fear of animals. They didn't have the resources back then like they do now! They didn't have the same legal system. We are talking about a time where women were not allowed to vote... among other things.

Do weapons kill people or do people kill people? I think that if guns weren't in, what is it 1 in 5 households, then there wouldn't be so many gun related deaths. How often do you hear about a person going into a church, school, parking lot, mall, movie theatre and bludgeoning people to death? You don't... because it just doesn't happen. But how often do you hear about people going in with a gun instead? And this year alone, it has been 1 too many times!

My heart goes out to all those families and people that lost loved ones this year due to gun violence, actually due to any form of violence. I hope that something is done to make this sort of thing a horrible memory and not a look into our future.

~ The reason I wrote this post is because I was at msn.com and what do you think I saw? "BREAKING NEWS" FOUR KILLED, INCLUDING GUNMAN, IN SHOOTING INCIDENT IN PENNSYLVANIA.

Tijan - Author

Just going to write a quick something about this author I stumbled across while looking for something new to read at Amazon.com

This author "Tijan" was a recommendation off of another author who I had just got done reading. I feel in love with her work.
Tijan writes YA books, but they are more sexual then typical YA books. They fall into the new category of "New Adult". They aren't overly graphic, but the characters in these books do have sex, like regular teenagers do anyway.

The blurb for "Fallen Crest High": Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent's divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing. This book can be found at amazon.com for kindle. This book is currently free.

The blurb for "Fallen Crest Family": Samantha and Mason are together. Everyone knows it. Not everyone is dealing with it. While Mason's ready to give them the middle finger, there's one not going away. Her mother. Threats are issued. Ultimatums are given. Even blackmail is used, but only Samantha can put a stop to Analise. However when a trauma from her past is triggered, she may not have the courage or strength to do what's needed. If she doesn't Mason's future could be destroyed. This book can be found at amazon.com for kindle. The book is currently $2.99

The blurb for "Fallen Crest Public": Sam's first day at Fallen Crest Public doesn't go well. Some girls want to be her. Some girls want to destroy her. And some just don't like her. All in all, despite being protected by Mason and Logan, it's still only the strong survive. Sam will not only have to survive, she needs to learn how to conquer too, but there's another battle growing. Things are about to come to a disastrous end between the towns, Roussou and Fallen Crest. Sam's other main dilemma? Keeping Mason and Logan from getting arrested or hospitalized. This book can be found at amazon.com for kindle. The book is currently $3.99

-- The Fallen Crest Series is hands down my favourite Tijan series. I love the dynamics from all the characters.

-- I've gotta say I love the "Fallen Crest" series. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series "Fallen Fourth Down".

The blurb for "Jaded": Sheldon doesn't care about anyone except Corrigan and Bryce. The three of them rule their school, but it seems someone else wants in on the action or that someone else just wants Sheldon. How many bodies is enough to prove their love to her. Jaded can be found at amazon.com for kindle. This title is currently $2.99

-- I wrote about how I've only read 2 of her books, now I've read 4. And I loved them all. "Still Jaded" is a continuation of Jaded with the return of Bryce to California after a year of being  apart from Sheldon. He returns to find some things are the same and some things have changed dramatically. They're no longer high schoolers, they have grown up and developed into College students.

-- "A Whole New Crowd" is different from the other 3. It is a story written about a girl, Taryn, who at the age of 17 was adopted and moved to the next town over. Trying to change from the girl she once was, she finds it harder then anticipated. This book will be available at Amazon.com on 08/18/2014

The blurb for "Still Jaded": Sheldon, Bryce, and Corrigan ruled their school until a killer wanted to rule them. Three years later, Bryce's back home from Europe the local celebrity jock. Corrigan's busy running his fraternity and Sheldon's about to be pulled back into the social world of drama. With the killer killed, who's trying to hurt Sheldon this time? Or maybe it's someone closer than she wants to admit?
You can find "Still Jaded" at amazon.com for kindle for $2.99

The blurb for "A Whole New Crowd": Leaving behind someone she loved and someone she shouldn't have loved, Taryn's trying to start a new life with her family. When she finds out the miracle adoption wasn't such a miracle, she wants to know why someone wanted her gone. Taryn doesn't care who she pisses off. She needs the truth, even if it means someone she loved betrayed her. Payback's a Bitch.

-- I have also read "Brady Remington Landed Me In Jail". The blurb goes as follows: Rayna would do anything for Brady and she has. She's bailed him out of jail. She's healed his bruises and picked him up from parties. She's always been there for him regardless if he had asked her or not. But when a potential love interest for Rayna returns to town, their relationship is threatened. Brady has to decide if he's going to make her his or let her go. And when he tries to do the right thing by both of them, neither could've foreseen what secrets their decisions would've exposed. Their small town is soon rocked by controversy and in the midst of it, Rayna and Brady try to figure out if they can be together or not. This book can be found at amazon.com for $1.99

The blurb for "Broken and Screwed": Alexandra's older brother died the night he graduated. That day changed everything for her. No longer was she the party girl. No longer did she care about being popular and no longer was her family the happy unit she always thought existed. The only person who could help her heal is the same person who loved her brother as much as she did, his best friend. She only hopes to keep her entire heart from breaking when Jesse will move on, and she knows he will.
After Ethan died, Jesse excelled at basketball, partying, and girls. He used it all to turn his emotions off, but the irony was that Alex was the only person who could do that for him. She helped him forget, but she was the one person he shouldn't be with because the secrets he knows could shatter everything. They could shatter her. You can find this book at amazon.com for kindle its just $3.99

The blurb for "Broken and Screwed 2": New school. New friendships. New life. Not so much. Alexandra is pissed about her parents abandoning her. She's beyond pissed that her friends did the same. She's enraged because things are unclear about her brother's death now. So her first stop is at Jesse's house to demand answers. She wants to know why her brother was friends with the criminal crowd before he died and she knows he holds the answers. But when she sees him she doesn't get the answers she expected. Instead, she finds out that their chemistry never faded and soon heats up again!
Some habits die hard. Soon Jesse and Alex are back to their ways of sneaking around. He's a near-celebrity at school and she doesn't want to deal with the backlash of being his girlfriend. Alex is tired of being hurt so she's learned the lesson not to confide and lean on others. However, she can't seem to help herself when it comes to Jesse Hunt. The big question isn't if she will survive if their relationship goes public, it's if she will survive when the real truths about her family and brother come out? Or when she learns that Jesse knows more then what he's told her? You can find this book at amazon.com for kindle at just $2.99

The blurb for "Carter Reed": Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place. This book is not for the faint of heart. You can find this book at amazon.com for kindle at just $4.99

-- I've gotta say Carter Reed was very different from the rest. The characters are all older in there early 20s. (Out of high school.) The blurb says it all.

BWW Evacuation

Oh my goodness... Yesterday my husband and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Texans vs. Titans game because it wasn't on the TV at home. Its a ridiculous thing we have to do because lets face it the food at BWW is f'ing nasty! So anyways, we get a good seat in the bar area, and for like the first time ever they put the Texans on a big screen TV. We usually have to watch on one of the littler ones because the Texans aren't all the popular, but people have started putting on their running shoes to catch up to that band wagon!

Anyhow... so we're sitting there and the 3rd quarter starts and my husband goes into the rest room, and comes out and tells me how disgusting the mens room is and he asks me if its the same in the women's. I said "ah NO, we don't pee on toilet seats and stink the place up, thats the mens job." He then goes on to tell me that one of the actual toilets is filled to the brim with water and thats what was making it so nasty in the mens room. I said that disgusting!

So here we are sitting just minding our own business, when one of the employees walks passed with a bucket and mop filled with nasty smelling water. Then the waitress walks over and informs us that we have to pay because they're shutting down the bar and kitchen. OK we'll pay... we still get to watch our game. OHHHH NO thats not whats happening! The manager gets on the mic and says that we all have to leave/evacuate once our bills have been paid. That didn't go over so well with all the football fans in the facility.

The manager then goes on to tell us the reason for the shut down. It all goes back to the nasty mens room and the disgusting water. Apparently some dude must've taken the biggest shit known to man and clogged up all the pipes. Bravo douche bag! Bravo! It was vile and disgusting and I'm not sure I ever want to go back there again! So NASTY!!!

Its a good thing the Texans won and it wasn't a close game like the previous 2 over time games.

Texans vs. Bears

WOOHOO!!!!!! The Texans beat the Bears. I loved watching the sports shows prior to the game where the commentators give their predictions.

Host: "So who do you think will win?"
Commentator #1: "The Bears... for blah blah blah reasons"
Host to Commentator #2: "So what's your prediction?"
#2: "The Bears for sure. They have such a better blah blah blah! They're so good at this and the Texans just don't have the ability to keep up with such a HIGH caliber team as the Bears!"

Ummmm.... what a bunch of F'ing morons!

It was a game that was played in crap weather, on a partially torn up field, as the weather worsened so did the field. I was amazed more people didn't slip over. I can only imagine how much harder hanging on and handling the ball must've been.

Anyhow... Texans won and that right now is all that matters!!!

As I posted on facebook ~

People get your band wagon shoes on... its JUMPING time!

Employment

Just a quick something on the "Employment Issue" in this country.

This is a grid of all the jobs outsourced from America to other countries. If they want to fix the employment in this country STOP OUTSOURCING!!!! Give the jobs back to the people in the countries the companies reside in. Man up and stop being tight asses with your money. Pay the American people, and support your own Economy. Not the economy of some other country!

Rant

Well... the NFL season has officially begun. Week one is over and we move onto Week two.

Now I have a question about the "touch down". I'm not entirely sure why it is called a "Touch Down". The ball doesn't have to "touch" the ground... your feet don't even have to be "touching" the ground. The ball literally has to be held over the line in the End Zone to be considered a "Touch Down". I'm sorry but I am failing to understand how thats a "touch down". I can understand it a little more when your feet are at least in the End Zone, at least that is a part of your body touching the ground while holding the ball. But just holding the ball over the line, while your feet are on the other side of the line, doesn't make much sense to me. Now coming from a Rugby mind set... where the ball has to actually touch the ground, I can't understand how in American Football the ball doesn't have to touch the ground, or any other part of your body for that matter. The ball just has to hover in your hands over the line to be considered a "Touch Down".

So why is it called a Touch Down?

GO TEXANS!!!

WTF is going on?!

WTF is going on in this country?! Another shooting! Thats 2 shootings in less then a month. Two locations being shot up... I am speechless! The gun laws need to be revised in this country. You think the government would do something about it. I get that it is a constitutional right in this country to bare arms. But you have to take into account when the constitution was written. Where talking over 100 years ago, when owning a gun was probably something everyone did out of necessity. Tell me this, why on earth do people need guns today?

It's so saddening. How horrible for those peoples families. What did those people do that justified a crazy person shooting at random?!

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

Thats all I have to say about that.

Road Trip

Well, since I posted a whole bunch of pics of our recent road trip, I think its time to write something about it. Sorry if its too dull for you.

We left Friday morning at around 11am; after taking Sam to the kennel for his own little vacation (found out he weighs 88 pounds, which for him is lite).
Sam

Dictators Walk

Anyhow... So we hit the road so to speak. So we arrive at our hotel in Richmond, Virginia; dropped off our stuff and took a little trip to Freidricksburg, Virginia. Freidricksburg was the sight of one of the battles during the Civil War. B and I did the, I believe its called the "Dictators Walk". It was hot and sticky and all I could think was, "How on earth did those men do this with all those layers of clothing on?!" So after about a hour at the site, we left, just in time due to the large storm that crept up on us.

We made it back to Richmond and spent the remainder of the night watching the Opening Ceremony, which by the way could have been better! The next morning B and I got up early and went for a walk around down town Richmond. I really enjoyed Richmond. It was beautiful and so old. The cobble stone roads were fantastic.

So we left that morning for Washington D.C. The drive took a whole lot longer then anticipated. A 2 hour drive took us 6 hours. Don't ask! We stopped at Petersburg, Virginia on the way. Petersburg is another sight of a battle during the Civil War. It was actually quite pleasant the part that we went to, considering what had happened there many many many years before. B and I did the 30 minute walk along the trail. Took photos, then sat down and waiting for my FIL to finish his own little tour. I ended up taking some photos of squirrels.
I swear he was posing
So we finally make it to D.C and I LOVE IT!!! It is so beautiful. The first night in D.C, B and I did our own little walking tour. We ended up at the Air and Space Museum... this place was CRAZY busy!! But considering that the whole Smithsonian Institute is free, what more could be expected. B and I then walked over to the Natural History museum and we both fell in love with it. The amazing Dinosaur display and the evolution of human exhibit was amazing. Also, we got to see the Hope Diamond, which had some pretty hefty guarding going on (the guard was about 70).

So the next day we got on our bus tour of the city and got off at the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and the White House. After seeing all three B and I walked down to the Holocaust Museum. If you ever have to see one museum in your lifetime make sure its a Holocaust Museum. I swear it is the most depressing place I have ever set foot inside of. The moment you walk into the permanent exhibition you just want to burst into tears. At the museum they had one of those awful final solution carriages, I guess you would call it that. You know the transport cart. You could get on it. The moment I stepped on I wanted to get the hell off. I am one person and I felt horrible just stepping inside that pitch black room. I can't even begin to imagine how horrible it would've been to have been forced onto the cart with 100 - 200 other people. The survivors of the Holocaust are some incredibly strong people. They also had the shoes and luggage, I can't even begin to explain how awful it was.

The next day we drove up to Pennsylvania. We spent the night in Hanover, where I learnt 2 things. 1. I LOVE PA. and 2. I love UTZ chips. SOOOOO YUMMY!!! My in-laws spent the day at Gettysburg, while I spent the day sleeping and getting ready for our 7 hour drive the next day.

The next day we got up and left PA at around 10am. We drove straight home with no stops along the way. It was pretty good time for us, considering the 6 hours it took us to drive 2hours.

I did learn some things on the way...

Number 1: I didn't know that people could squeak while they eat, but I learnt that on the journey. I nearly wet my pants laughing over it. Just thinking about it now makes me giggle.
Number 2: Spitting is disgusting. Especially when its done constantly... so gross
Number 3: If you spend most of your time coughing and messing with your throat, I'd say its about time you went and saw a doctor!
Number 4: A good book can be read in 6 hours.
& finally Number 5: I'm not sure I could ever do a road trip like that EVER again!!! B and I alone, piece of cake, B and I + in-laws... well enough said.
